Do you ever find yourself attempting to do a Hold’em calculation, run a quick Omaha hand at the same time, and then get lost trying to pull up two different online odds calculators? If your answer is yes, then you might want to check out AceStar Software’s newest release, AceStats 6-in-1 Poker Odds Calculator. AceStar is claiming that it’s the fastest multi-poker variant odds calculator on the market and, after doing some research, it appears they might be right.
AceStats supports six different forms of poker, including Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha High-Low Eight or Better, Razz, Stud, and Stud High-Low Eight or Better. AceStar says its calculating speeds are unrivaled by other programs and, based on the lighting speed results I got for the hands that I ran, they probably aren’t lying.
According to its website, AceStar has optimized the data structure, programming techniques, algorithm design, and profiling in an effort to speed up computations. In terms of navigation, AceStats is nothing flashy, but it’s simple, straightforward, and easy to use, which I’ll take every time over a bad program cleverly disguised by good graphics. There do not appear to be many other poker odds calculators out there that support so many forms of poker on the same client and deliver results in anywhere close to the same speed. Despite all of this, the best part of all of this is that the AceStats 6-in-1 Poker Odds Calculator is absolutely free and doesn’t require any installation.
I suppose there are a number of readers who answered “no” to my initial question, which means if you’ve made it this far into the article, you’re likely wondering, “What’s the big deal? It’s just an odds calculator?” I’ll be the first to admit that when I found the information on AceStar’s free product, I thought the same thing, but then I reflected further and have since changed my tune. While it’s true that there really isn’t anything Earth-shattering about the AceStats odds calculator, it certainly is a nice tool to have.
Will it turn you into a winner? No, it won’t, but then again most poker software applications won’t either (even if they say they will). What it will do in most cases is save you a minute or two of your time and we all know how valuable that can be when you’re multi-tabling. At the very least, the AceStats 6-in-1 Poker Odds Calculator will leave you less frustrated when you want to run a hand, mainly because it’ll be right there on your desktop and can undoubtedly support any game you’re playing.
Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that AceStats is free? Sure, you could buy Calculatem Pro for $100 and get features like live recommendations on pot odds, odds of winning on future streets, and graphical displays of your “outs” in any given hand. Or you could pony up $40 for Poker Wingman and get to know all of the poker slang names for your hole cards. You could even download Flopzilla for free if flop analysis, ranges, and simulations are what you’re after.
All of these tools are solid options and will each help your game in their own way. However, if you’re not looking to spend any money and just want an upgrade over the odds calculators you’re currently depending on, AceStar Software’s freeware release is more than worth the price.
